GEAR DRIVEN LIFTER PLATES & SEAMING CHUCKS

Over the years, in an effort to cut material costs, tin plate thickness has been gradually reduced. When using these new cans on some old canning machines, operators are forced to keep high lower chuck pressure and slow the machine down to avoid chuck slippage problems.

Gear driven lower lifters have the following advantages:

  • Increased capacity in cans/min.
  • Increased seam integrity.
  • Reduced slipping of covers on seaming chuck and increase in chuck working life.
  • Reduction in spring pressure, eliminating the problem of mushroom flanges.

FAST CAN HEIGHT REGULATION

Changing from one can height to another is always a main issue for a canning machine operator. With SAGA M changeovers are simple and extremely fast. The procces:

  1   Unscrew three main bolts (two in columns and one in main central shaft).

​  2   With a special hand tool rotate a pinion located on the roof of the machine. Doing so the complete seaming turret as well as the lid feeder will move up/down till reaching the desired height.

​  3   Tighten bolts again.

​  4   YOU ARE DONE!
